One Thorndale
was constructed in 1971 as the international headquarters of the
Commerce Clearing House. Like the Transamerica Pyramid in downtown
San Francisco, One Thorndale was built both as a commercial office
building and as a real estate icon. The building was held to
standards of construction far in excess of traditional requirements
and features post-tension slab construction, giving it incredible
strength and stability. Once completed, the building had used over
15,000 cubic yards of concrete, 79 miles of stainless steel tendons,
and required developers to haul 543,500 cubic yards of dirt from the
site. |

In 2001, Herrero Brothers contractors completed tenant improvements for a
video gaming company, updating the building’s interior to modern
standards of Class A Office. Today, One Thorndale has the amenities
and quality of new product while it maintains all the structural
integrity and style of the original development. In addition to work
done by Herrero Brothers, recent renovations have been made
totaling over $5million, including
new roof, reconditioned HVAC, electrical systems, ADA bathrooms,
elevators, windows, ceiling tiles and walls. |
